Herpes Remedies - Antiviral Therapy
Acyclovir was the first agent to be
licensed for the treatment of herpesvirus infections, and has been the standard therapy for Herpes infections for many years. This drug and possible side effects are so well known, however, Aciclovir is limited by its low bioavailability
and consequent frequent dosing regimens.
Newer antiviral agents, such as Valaciclovir (Valtrex), have improved bioavailability and can offer less frequent dosing.
Patients can be managed with episodic antiviral therapy which they can start themselves each time they detect the first signs of a recurrence. Self initiation allows each recurrence to be treated more expeditiously than if a physician had to consulted. Allowing patients to self-initiate treatment without having to go back to a physician also returns control of the infection to the patient.

need:
For Shingles 1gram 3 times a day for 7 days = 42 tablets
For Genital Herpes 1gram twice a day for 10 days. For later attacks 500mg twice a day for 5 days. To keep it from returning, 1gram once a day. So at least 40 tablets.
